Having a problem picking out a gift for that special someone, friend, or relative? You can try snooping in their medicine cabinet for clues — it’s a classic sleuthing tactic. But if you don’t have the nerve for that, then try these gift ideas:
1. Hydrator
If your friend lives in a winter cold-weather zone, a hydration option is a good choice for all ages and skin types. The morning cream is loaded with hyaluronic acid — an ace hydrator that locks in moisture to plump you up and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
If they live in the west or southwest, hydration is still necessary, but try pairing it with SPF — also present in the morning cream.
2. Booze — without the booze
Let’s face it, holiday time is prime time for alcohol. People are tipping back even during Zoom holiday parties. But alcohol is a diuretic; it leads to dehydration, which impacts the kidneys' ability to regulate fluid and electrolytes, thus dehydrating your organs.
Your skin also gets dehydrated (it, too, is an organ). And when your dermis is dehydrated, it loses plumpness — an invitation for fine lines and wrinkles to make a mad dash for your face.
As a stocking stuffer, you can try alcohol-free beer, there are plenty of them on the market, some as good as any craft beer.
Or you can try regular hydration with hyaluronic acid — it's in our Active Recovery Hydro-Gel.
3. The magic cactus
Did you know that the leaves of the aloe plant produce a gel that is rich in vitamins A, E, C and B12? And that it helps battle acne, dry skin, uneven skin tone, and eczema? It’s the one plant that can help keep a face happy.
It’s a great gift idea — or, if your friend doesn't have a green thumb, you can try our Vital Morning Face Cream, which also knows how to keep a face happy — and aloe vera is the very first ingredient.
4. Stress ball
Does stress accelerate acne? Dr. Steve says this might be true. “It's been hard to prove that stress has anything to do with acne, but many of my patients report that dealing with acne can be worse around certain stressful events like interviews, and dates. There is certainly a nerve skin axis,” he says.
Try gifting your friend a stress ball — the squeezing motion stimulates and contracts the muscles, making them stronger. This improves nervous system functioning, which curbs stress levels.
Or you can gift your friend the essential acne set, it’s got a combo of salicylic acid and retinol — two big guns in the fight against acne.
5. Shower Buddy
Those long hot showers in the winter can be dreadful for your skin. All that hot water can peel away the all-important lipid layer, which is responsible for keeping moisture where it belongs. Instead, try a lukewarm shower, and for only about five minutes.
A good rule of thumb is to turn the temperature down if the mirror starts to fog.
You can try gifting a LED digital shower thermometer, or advise your friend that right after they get out of the shower, when the skin is damp, they can apply moisturizer.
6. Desk calendar — and 20% off
Here’s an idea: gift your friend a calendar so they can track how quickly they’ll see results from their Holiday Geologie skincare set (it's 20% off with a code).
You can even help them mark it off, like this:
Day 1:
- The hyaluronic acid in the morning cream will moisturize and improve the barrier function.
- The salicylic acid in the facewash will get rid of gunk, oil and bacteria.
Day 21:
- Pore cleaning, to reduce whiteheads and blackheads and open the skin to deeper treatment.
- Immediate protection of the skin via SPF, to prevent visible signs of aging.
Day 60 - 90:
- The skin will adjust to the anti-acne and oil-fighting retinoid in the night cream.
Day 180:
- With consistent use of sunscreen in the morning cream, they’ll see prevention of photodamage — premature aging that occurs over long periods of time due to exposure to harmful UV rays.
